“Threads is the most fun, most interesting new product of the year”.

Feel the rush!

@jonhicks I think I need to be there. The wind is blowing away from Twitter. But I want to be here and so will almost certainly prioritise Mastodon. (Bluesky will, I think, go away. Although that’s where most of comics Twitter went.)
@craiggrannell @jonhicks A lot of Comics Twitter is also on Tumblr. If they do federation soon (as promised), we should be able to follow (and perhaps even interact with) them here someday.

@oct2pus @garrett @jonhicks A pity that it’s all about how it wouldn’t make enough money. Same old.

@craiggrannell @garrett @jonhicks i mean at the end of the day they are a corporation. they have to make money.

They recently put out a bulletin to all users that basically lined out they are focusing on changing the product away from what their core audience cares about to try and capture passive viewers who just scroll and don't post ala tiktok and other feeds because their core users don't make them profitable.

At this point I don't really have high hopes for for-profit social media and for all its flaws i'd rather use stuff on activitypub since its currently the best solution for building not for profit social media.

@oct2pus @garrett @jonhicks Perhaps it’s naive to think it would ever come to pass, but I liked the idea of ActivityPub taking off as a foundational layer, allowing us to have some interop with Mastodon, Threads, Tumblr, Flipboard, WordPress, etc. Perhaps it’s just too nice an idea to exist in reality.
