While I knew the little blue bird wasn't for me, I'm still thinking how I want to participate here.

As I figure that out, I might as well share the occasional photo, right?

@PupSquiffy anything you're thinking about, wondering, or struggling with with masto? I'm sure this whole community would be happy to help you sort through some thoughts!
@PupCrowbar No, but thanks! The tech part was so straightforward honestly; after hearing how steep the learning curve is, and how tough to understand the architecture is, I was expecting no less. Honestly, this reminds me a lot of the early internet, so it was easy to me. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Which is a compliment… My issues are more existential… What, precisely, do I want to share? What do I want out of it? The stuff I got so wrong on the blue bird, it seems. 🤪
@PupSquiffy @PupCrowbar you got any games or shows that you're enjoying? Or do you wanna keep it simple and have this account for pups and pups only woof woof
@Lion @PupCrowbar Good points to think about, especially since I’ve always had such a hard time being a whole person (the whole “me”) online. Even here, I created more than one login to segregate things. 🙄
@PupSquiffy rather than separate your own identity, maybe it's best on here to establish a core identity and separate your follows based on your interests in them?
You can use lists to separate your followed accounts like that.

@PupSquiffy @Lion oh, I did as well! That aspect doesn't bother me, personally, though. But I just treat those as different 'epicenters' of my online experience, rather than divisions. Just like I might do or say different things depending on whether I'm with family, coworkers, or kinksters, but in all those cases, still be able to be "me".

But I think on masto I feel a little less driven to polish all those different personas into separate things :)

@PupSquiffy I hear ya! Well I hope you continue sharing whatever you feel is right!

For me? I've felt like the more-insular nature of mastodon communities has put WAY less pressure on me to share the "right" stuff, or to follow massive global trends or memes that I don't really care about - which has been lovely. It means I can find it pretty comfortable to just share what's on my mind and to be me without worrying about how it'll be received.

@PupCrowbar So far, it sure feels exactly like you describe. Bottom line? I think I should just roll with it… 🤪

@PupSquiffy I'm very much a go-with-the-flow pup, so that's usually my tactic when I'm figuring something out, but you should do whatever feels right by you ☺️

(But I'll add that I'm biased about this because you're a cute pup and I hope to see more of you around here 😜)
