John Gordon@scottgal @Garwboy Autism became tied to a lot more services and support than the older classifications of developmental delay or 5th percentile IQ. Autism diagnostic criteria, for the purposes of child services, are sufficiently broad that every parent, physician, and teacher of a cognitively disabled child is going to assign that label and get those services. We certainly did for our oldest.
