Steve Oster recollected that a man called the show and complained, "You're ruining my kids by making them watch two women kiss like that." It was a production assistant who took the call. After hearing the man's complaint, the PA asked if the man would've been okay with his kids seeing one woman shoot the other. When the man said he would be okay with that, the PA said, "You should reconsider who's messing up your kids."

@fabianocerqueira I periodically think about doing a zine of things people are more comfortable seeing than same-sex kissing and it’s a long list that includes child and domestic abuse, murder, assault of all kinds, suicide, police abuses, and genocide. I always give up and don’t bother making the zine because I get too depressed.

@fabianocerqueira That reminds me of a George Carlin bit. "Make Fuck not Kill." "I would rather have my child watch a film of two people making love than two people trying to kill one another." I wasn't there so I don't know, but I suspect this was at least part of the meaning of "Make Love not War"

@fabianocerqueira when this was first on in the uk there was a letter in the tv magazine complaining about children seeing it. I was about 14 and completely dumbfounded that anyone would have a problem with it
