Ha-ha! I almost finished that list saying "I'm sure I'll have missed some great folks on there too" - but figured I could add them later (ah the beauty of editing posts!).

But how could I forget the inimitable @johnmu?

More caffeine needed, clearly. πŸ˜‚ (sorry John!).

If there's anyone else I've missed folks, do let me know.

@optimisey @johnmu

But John was in the original list - same line as mordy!

Even more caffine needed!

Focus man, focus!

@simoncox Yup. Definitely not just there because I edited it... oh no. πŸ˜…
@optimisey @simoncox I'm curious how the SEO-world will settle down with the new platforms. Will it just dilute across Twitter / Linkedin / Threads? I'm guessing Mastodon & Bluesky will continue to be outsiders (assumption: anti-capitalist vibes in both places, which doesn't work well for marketing)

@johnmu @optimisey

It's kind of been that way pre twitter deaththrows with with Facebook, Slack, Discord and forums taking a share of SEO's attention. Not all seo's participated in the Twitter SEO community though it did seem to be a big gathering point. So yes will be interesting. I'm staying here because of the vibe but will stick my head in other places for news. Social media isn't part of my role and I do feel anxious for those who have that as part of thier job description!

@simoncox @johnmu @optimisey It certainly feels like everyone is jumping around trying to find "the" place. I'm guilty of that too.

There's a limited amount of time I have and it's now spread across multiple places.

@defaced @johnmu @optimisey yep - was always so though but more noticeable now. Perhaps if we see Threads truly embrace Activity Pub then we will have a central hub again.

@simoncox @defaced @optimisey My prediction is Threads (fun) + Linkedin (serious) for SEOs. I'm not a fan of either platform, awkward.

Also, I can't imagine Threads integrating with "Mastodon" without significant changes across the Fediverse -- running a server is already expensive, nobody wants to upgrade 100x+ to channel in FB's massive content. Decentralization (imo) is great for equal peers, and even Mastodon is stretching it.

@johnmu @optimisey @simoncox

On the flip side, in my personal experience, we're the ones that know the most about how "marketing" data is collected and works and the privacy concerns therein, which I'd expect would drive us to decentralized platforms. At least, that's part of why I'm here.

Then again, I'm a guy who engages in buying ads and works on sites monetized by ads... and I run adblock.

@ericheiken @optimisey @simoncox Yeah, it's tricky. The online marketing community knows a lot about how it works, but also, they want a lot of data. I'd be curious if ad-blocker usage is known across job-types :-).

@optimisey as you know I'm not an SEO but

*waves*

Thank you very much. Following you all. Is there something like a list function here?
@optimisey The last mention is unlinked. Simon is here (now): @simoncox
@onreact @optimisey
I fear we never quite got to the tipping point and a lot went back to the twitters where the majority were. Seems to have been a bit of a pooling on Linkedin at the start of the year - though I find that too corporate self salesey for my social interaction needs. Now that Blue sky has opened up we might see more there but it is nowhere near as good as here. I love the diversity of posts I am seeing because of the people I am following. It's inspiring.

@simoncox @optimisey Yeah, X is just too angry and negative for me.

Also the algo is creating a popularity contest. In any case you end up ignored or howling with the wolves.

What I meant though is that you changed your instance as far as I remember. That's why the link is gone I guess.

I'm on Masto a few times a week now (not daily anymore) but almost daily on LinkedIn as I get most of my clients and work that way by now.
