Anthros are portrait mode furries, ferals are landscape mode furries.

#furry #anthro #feral

@jackemled heyyy, someone actually acknowledging we exist for once!
@jackemled (feral here, totally landscape mode :3 it really sucks how much anthro is just /assumed./)
@IceWolf I've seen a few people with feral fursonas! I guess they're just less common.
@jackemled Yeah, we do exist! =^.^= But you wouldn't know it from things like *waves paw at fucking "Anthrocon" and purported "definitions of furry" that include "anthropomorphic animals"*.
@IceWolf
If one wants to be pedantic, anthropomorphic just means having human traits. I'd argue that having human-like sapience counts as such even in the absence of physical/bodily traits of being "anthro" in the commonly used sense of being a walking and talking animal.
@jackemled

@KinkyKobolds @jackemled People.
Keep.
Saying.
That.

Please fuck off. It doesn't mean that in furry, I do not have "human-like sapience", /hi I'm a wolf and not humanlike at all/, "sapience" isn't a fucking Special Human Thing, and just... no.

Don't try to REDEFINE "anthro" to include me and go "oh it's okay!".

@IceWolf @KinkyKobolds @jackemled I think that was the original definition in the furry fandom. And the basis of the name for AnthroCon too.

It is quite ok to try to redefine it back to the roots. As for now, it seems "furry fandom" is a "for people that like to dress up as animals" fandom, so it is ok to look at how it was when it started and try to "redefine" it back to what it was.

Therians were also a much bigger part of it back then, not shunned like it often is now.

@panduck @KinkyKobolds @jackemled Therians being more accepted is cool, but the "so you're anthro so anthronormativity is okay!" is NOT.

Fucking /stop it./

@IceWolf @KinkyKobolds @jackemled Well, I have been in this fandom for over 30 years, my main character is just a plain osprey I still consider anthro because they can talk, and while it is completely up to you to define yourself as anthro / non anthro, I am sure not gonna stop referring to my plain-bird-self as anthro and I have no intentions to change that...

You attacked the name AnthroCon. It is then a bit more than how you define yourself. You don't own the definition.
