A list of instances showing their policy decision re FB.

One thing I have noticed while perusing the rules of various servers is that most clearly state their rules, but hardly any at all give any information at all re who is hosting them. As a Mastodonian I want to know this before I decide to join. Is it one person, are you a co-op, what is your policy re decision making? Do users get a say or do the admins just make all the decisions?

@timbray wrote a blog piece about #faceblock as a case study

https://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/202x/2023/06/24/Fediverse-Governance

"Most Fediverse instances are run by a single person who has essentially dictatorial control, usually a software professional who did the work to set the instance up"

which shouldn't be huge surprise, but worth putting into words.

P.S. hopefully I'm being constructive. But also, here's your reminder we used to use #/fediblock to share important block requests, so they're not drowned out by general discussion that can use other tags like #/fediadmin etc.

( #/fediblockmeta was first used to mean "discussion about fediblock", but the name is a bit ambiguous now lol)

FediBlock is for blocking people. #FediBlockMeta is for questions, discussions, anything other than saying “block this person or instance”. delete and redraft your post or youre spamming a tag intended to be used as a tool. editing a hashtag does not change the post showing up in the original hashtag you posted. you have to delete and redraft.

@sourcejedi_ben Thank you. I knew that but it didn't twig! I have seen it used a lot for posts re FB and chose it for that reason. I will cease using it and remind others of its designed use. Thanks for being a fedihelper. 🙂
