By today’s Trumpian standards he seems mild. Even Obama praised him. Along with Lincoln, Republicans trot Ronald Reagan out every time Democrats praise their greats: Obama, LBJ, Kennedy, FDR or Truman.

Republicans regularly rate him their greatest after Lincoln.

In reality, the “great communicator,“ as he was called, was an impenetrable facade of congeniality who was hostile to civil rights.

@Deglassco @[email protected] @BlackMastodon Reagan was no friend to the environment either. When Reagan moved into the White House, he ordered the solar panels that Carter installed on the roof to be removed. And then he appointed the horrific James Watt, a man who never saw a tree he didn't want to cut down. Reagan was worse than Trump because he was a charismatic monster who knew exactly what he was doing.
