Messages like this started popping up on sidewalks, windows, and painted rocks planted in gardens.

A too-brief glimpse of what “community” could mean.

Things really took a turn, didn’t they?

@mick What I remember was reading an article in late 2019 about a strange disease that had engulfed a hospital in China. When I mentioned this online, I was told that "People die from the flu all the time, so it's not a big deal."

Of course, that was just a random conversation I had. I was certain the authorities would do something about it.

No, absolutely nothing was done to prevent the spread of COVID. Then the panic started...
