Mastodon really is superior to the other networks. It’s a shame more people in my field professionally aren’t here too, but the community is nice enough without ’em.
Jesper Musaeus@kevinrothrock you could try and help the process by maintaining a public list of their names and mastodon-handle. Send them an email with link to the list and ask them to join the conversation and update the list when they have. This way they can quickly re-connect with each other when they join Mastodon.

It's kinda unwieldy, but maybe this could eventually be adapted into some sort of easily updatable and easily searchable directory site.
