Have you ever felt stuck in a bad situation that you couldn't get out of, through no fault of your own, and all you could do is just make the best of it?

Such is the life of the Devils Hole pupfish.

10,000 years back, it somehow got trapped in a small, inhospitable fishbowl made of rock in a desert. A decade ago, only 35 fish were left. But lately its been doing better, despite—or maybe partly because of—flash floods and earthquakes.

@nellgreenfieldboyce I love the Devils Hole pupfish. I learned about them in the 90s in a middle school science project, and I haven’t stopped thinking about the little guys. It’s so nice to get good news about them and their improbable lives.

Amazing to see the 4 ft waves in their "fishbowl" from an earthquake 1500 miles away!
@nellgreenfieldboyce Worked with Dr Allan Schoenherr at Fullerton College. Pupfish are close to my heart. This is good news!
