@w7voa The funny thing is that twitter is not, in and of itself, very complicated: the hardest bit is the scaling, which Facebook already has done. The data model for Twitter is nothing compared to Facebook, so what kind of genius proprietary technology does Elongated Muskrat think they need to pilfer?
