For the people fleeing Evernote, I have learned (as I backup the useless notes I have in my account that is free and that has been dormant since 2016) that the backup options are not great. But this tool can help you get to something like Obsidian or Logseq! https://github.com/akosbalasko/yarle

Also, if you're looking for legacy versions of the Evernote client, AKA, the GOOD ONE that has better export options, https://www.reddit.com/r/Evernote/comments/u2i8r2/psa_trove_of_download_links_to_legacy_versions_of/ has them. The last 7.x release still works on Ventura anyway. Way faster and lets you export all notebooks at once

@film_girl Thanks, this looks really useful!
@film_girl seems like community run services like mastodon is a good way to get away from these equity firms buying up businesses and turning everything into crap. Lately they've been the enemy causing havoc in a lot of areas.
@film_girl Thanks. I need to see if there is even anything in those old notebooks that I still want!
@film_girl Thanks for the heads up. So glad I bounced to Joplin about a year ago. I used to love Evernote, but the enshittification hit them hard. Joplin has it's issues, but it's been a worthy replacement for me so far.

@iestynx yup! This was for people who prefer a markdown/text/roll-your-own approach
@iestynx Was this flawless? My EN backup is around 6gb. 😳
@dunnington worked perfectly for me. My dataset wasn’t quite that large though
@film_girl wait, people still use Evernote?
@jacobrealo I was surprised too!
@film_girl I just tried resetting my password to log in (wanted to see what my oldest notebook was). Can’t seem to get TFA to work. Oh well. I think I used it last in 2013.
@film_girl I used the Apple Notes importer like 8 years ago and it was flawless.
@wklj @film_girl Can confirm, I moved 2000 notes when pdf search was viable a few years ago, never looked back.
@wklj @film_girl I think newer versions of Evernote have heavy limits on bulk export options. Around 50 notes from memory.
@michaelseager @wklj no, it’s just slow b/c electron. But the old apps still work in Ventura anyway for exporting.
@film_girl @wklj thanks for the correction! Glad it’s not a problem, shame about the circumstances though.
