YouTube is about to restrict views (beta test) to 3 videos per day, or you need to disable Adblocker or buy YT premium. The battle between content creator and Ad blocker user just escalated further. The whole Google-backed-up Ad industry is going nuclear for sure. It is not just Google, but all other players like FB, Insta, Twitter, and others restricting access to content unless you allow Ad viewing.

@nixCraft honestly I'd be alright if they went fully paid & gotten rid of their algorithm (as it wouldn't matter as much). Even a buck/month would suffice for a platform their size.

However, this is the worst path they could've taken and ultimately will result in horrendous "YT vs it's community"

@nixCraft The reason I started using an ad blocker in the first place was because flash based adverts were being used to distribute malware. I wouldn't be surprised if this still happens today with html5 based adverts.

@nixCraft I actually have YouTube premium but I do use an adblocker otherwise and people just see me leave if they want me to disable my adblocker. The internet is NOT safe without an adblocker.

@nixCraft I recently hit that with the paramount+ app. It stopped playing videos with an error and I realized that they had started preventing videos to play at all if an ad blocker was in place.

@nixCraft Jesus... YouTube premium is one of the only subscriptions that I actually have. If I'm not subbed to YT or Spotify I can't stream music in my car. This is terrible though.

@nixCraft they’ve been so heavy handed with it though. I don’t care much about watching some ads, on the general internet I do because it’s absolutely abhorrent the amount of ads.. but YouTube is like 4 jarring ads in a 10 minute video.. so I guess I’ll just block them however the hell I can?
