@BlahBlah @RHW I don't think a pressure cooker would change the texture of the barley. Thinking of when I've cooked it Maybe he could have tried puffing some to give a crunchy element #MasterChefAU

That would have been a lovely crunch element. Seems as though he has cooked it perfectly, it was such a hard task.
