I’ve never met a guy who called women “females” who didn’t say it like it was a slur.
@carnage4life saying something like the females bathroom is just weird
@carnage4life probably true for the whole...
@carnage4life I've seen it online and on youtube quite a bit and not in an intentionally derogatory way. The people that use it are often uneducated and clearly hang out with the wrong people. It's very cringe

@carnage4life
@purplepadma

I always hear it in a David Attenborough voice in my head:

"The females of the species congregate in the bathroom for safety..."

@carnage4life TBH same with women who call men “males”… except that doesn’t actually happen 😏
@carnage4life The only thing I ever hear...
@Abstruse Came here for the Ferengi pic, was not disappointed.
@Abstruse @carnage4life the Ferengi *started* my husband doing it
@carnage4life The Canadian Armed Forces uses “female” extensively as a noun and verb to refer to women. People who have served in the CAF tend to use the word in regular conversation (and not as a slur). People who served in the US military might be the same.
@carnage4life INSTANT red flag. Always fucking creepy.
@carnage4life and yet the common term for eng women is "female engineers" 😬

@nitzanms @carnage4life

What is especially offensive about that is that Male is never a qualifier in these cases. It is engineers and female engineers as if they weren't really actual engineers.

@girlonthenet @carnage4life this. So much this. We should normalize not calling women females. In fact, let's just trash insel culture entirely shall we?
@carnage4life almost always followed up with some weird statement about “biology”
@carnage4life Says much about the society you live in.
Not much about people who call others male, female or whatever else.
@carnage4life
Ah, that's the one where they've been told they can't call grown women 'girls', so they default to delivering 'females' with as much scorn as they can muster.
@carnage4life I will never be able to read that without hearing it in my head with a Ferengi voice… usually with a few disdainful interjections of “hu-man” interspersed in it.
@carnage4life I can hear it only in a Ferengi voice. "FEE-males."
@carnage4life I cringe when guys refer to women as "ladies". Notably to their face.
@carnage4life The reddit crowd always finds someone to say "it's okay I picked it up from the military" which, uh, just proves the point.
