Look, there's a lot of anger and dissent in the Fediverse about the launch of Threads, but can we all at least agree that it is going to be utterly hilarious to watch Musk pretending he's not not crying as the last shreds of the platform he paid billions of dollars for go swirling down the toilet?

I don’t think Elon Musk cares. He is so rich that he can lose every dime he spent on Twitter and not even notice it.

Musk didn’t buy Twitter to make a go of it. He bought Twitter to destroy it, to end open discourse. Best case for him and his billionaire backers, it becomes a #Republican #Nazi platform, worst, case, it craters.

Either way, he has more money than a billion other people put together.

@bigheadtales eh, don't agree that he doesn't care. He desperately wants to appear cool and his ego is incredibly fragile. Watching a toy he bought to make everyone like him instead turn him the butt of so much ridicule afflicts his pride, no matter how rich he is. 4D chess this purchase was not, at least in his part.

@AbandonedAmerica
I completely agree that his ego is as fragile as it is massive.

But I disagree as to his motives. I’m sure his he-man, stable-genius billionaires of the Fourth Reich club strokes his ego far more than common peasants like us laughing at him could ever damage it. Z

@bigheadtales @AbandonedAmerica For my own, I don't think anything about him, just wait and see
@bigheadtales @AbandonedAmerica He's been selling Tesla stock just to try and make payments repeatedly, causing the value of his stock to drop significantly. If this were a "I'm gonna buy it to ruin it" kind of thing, I doubt he would jeopardize his other companies like this.
