Future versions of Threads will work with the fediverse, a new type of social media network that allows people to follow and interact with each other on different platforms, like Mastodon. https://www.threads.net/@nixCraft let us see if it can replace the bird site 🧐
@nixCraft just tried it, the home tab is full of noise as fuck, nothxbye

@nixCraft
"How threads works:

1. We sell your data!
2. You'll be able to connect to this 'fediverse' thing or whatever
3. And we collect your data!"

That's what i see there

@nixCraft
Will you be posting on both moving forward or only on the thread one?
@Seb_Solon I am here stuck with all of you lol 😂

@nixCraft Honestly from what I've heard so far I'd rather keep using Birdsite than this.

(But would prefer Mastodon far more than either!)

@nixCraft
Even if I could ignore the fact that this is Zuck's baby, I'm not interested in yet another app.
The fact that you *must* have their app doesn't pass the sniff test.
Sorry, I'm from the Midwest.
I've been on a farm and know what that smell is.
@nixCraft Still skeptical as hell
@nixCraft
It's from Facebook. So it's a no from me.
@nixCraft I probably won't join threads since (a) I have a grudge against Facebook and (b) it will be interoperable with the fediverse so I'd rather stay self-hosted.
@nixCraft looks rather unappealing.
@nixCraft The page doesn't even load for me. Probably because it's not open in Europe, because Meta is still stealing user information with it. Which is also probably why there isn't any tech content, people who know a bit about it are already here and avoiding #Threads.

@nixCraft so... one day, it will be able to do something that existing platforms already do.

In the meantime, and probably after as well, you can go there to look at (tailored!) ads, and a content feed that is corrupted by an algorithm to hide stuff you want to see and show stuff you don't want to see.

Wow, that sounds just great!

@nixCraft So hyped to federate with #Threads !!! 🤢
@nixCraft And here I'm still wondering how to add people from different instances easily.
