#WritingWonders Day 5 - Has your MC ever been in a physical altercation? Why?

Yikes, so you might be able to tell from my Mastodon name that I tend to write... action-rich stories.

Gash lives in a #cyberpunk world in which corporations have more or less re-written the laws to favor themselves and effectively abolished central governments (at least in most of Europe and North America). The ONLY way to fight back is with physical violence, as any other outlet is irrevocably stacked against.

Essentially, the real world, then?

#gofortheJoke

@sfwrtr The joke is me assuming we survive climate change long enough for our wealthy overlords to complete the transformation. I mean everything is fine

@booksthatgoboom When I read your posts, I think of the similarities of your world to mine, in how that world became inhospitable. Not sure my use of a joke hashtag was right in that case, so I hope you'll let that pass.

I think it is worthy to show what can be so the reader can conclude for themselves that maybe they should do something about it. (Mind you, I haven't read one of your stories, but your posts.) In the SFF novel WiP, where I depict the habitable parts of earth hovering near blood temperature and haven't yet mentioned the rest, I hope the reader will get a taste of something that might make them think, also.

@sfwrtr Yeah, I get a dark pleasure from mapping out where we're headed in my #cyberpunk world. I don't write specifically to affect social change, but hope an accurate depiction of our future dystopia will help paint a certain kind of picture.

Even just your use of the words "habitable parts of Earth" is spot on. I joke about being a climate refugee, wanting to move north to escape the heat, but it's happening in our lifetimes that parts of the world won't be habitable anymore.

@sfwrtr @booksthatgoboom

"Habitable parts of earth hovering near blood temperature" is such a great world building sentence.

@booksthatgoboom my protagonist also lives in a #cyberpunk world, so similar problems. She does most of her (successful) altercations in cyberspace though so there's some variety.
