<<Auto insurance rant/questions>>
After previously having the understanding that other people driving my car are covered so long as I’m in the car with them, today my auto insurance said that that is not true. If someone else is driving my car with us both in it and there’es…
…an accident, they will not cover anything at all.
Is this normal for other people’s policies?!?! Friends taking turns driving during a cross country trip is something everyone i know does. Have people just never checked and they’re driving around while not covered?!…

@Straander From what I learned from different brokers I worked with, it will cover other drivers if it's an eventual drive like, if you had a drink and they drove you home. If you're in the same household or using the car more extensively, coverage would not apply.

That said, I do now know how it would work on a long/cross-country road trip etc
