Is the collapse of the Conservative Party every bit as dangerous as its rise?

Should we be concerned for what might rise as the Conservative Party falls?

My biggest fear for the UK is that an ineffectual Labour government, on which huge hopes and expectations will inevitably be pinned, will end up (like Macron in France) propagating the desperate disappointment that will in turn lead to the further rise of the far right.

@GeofCox @YorksBylines The Tory long game seems to be to leave the UK in such a mess that the next Government will look ineffectual even if it tackles the problems with a perfect strategy. Expectation management is going to be key to Labour’s chances beyond its first term.

@KimSJ @GeofCox @YorksBylines
It certainly looks that way

Otherwise it's hard to explain the sheer incompetence and cluelessness

@GeofCox @YorksBylines Let me just enjoy it’s collapse first. Don’t take anything for granted. The Tories need to be buried for the next decade at least, and consigned to battle forever with PR if any sense prevails.

Then we can start wringing our hands. But first, there’s a lot of work to be done.

@YorksBylines New Labour=Old Tory, with Smarmer.
@YorksBylines excellent article. Agree entirely. Good argument for PR.
@YorksBylines
No. Starmer is the real deal. He should be PM now, or at least as soon as possible.
