Looking for feedback from pdx.social users about allowing federation with Meta's new threads platform. My main concern is that data from our server that makes it's way into threads will then become part of Meta's data collection.

The fact that they can't launch in the EU because it would prevent them from mixing their data sources for advertising is telling.

@foozmeat Yeah, as much as I don't like Meta, I wanted to give their users a chance... but those app permissions looked scary and you make a good point about the EU. So, I vote 'no' unless they can do something to show they can be trusted. If EU allows them, that might be a step toward consideration.

@foozmeat @scuttlefield there’s no guarantee that if they meet EU privacy law that will apply to their US operations.
