I hope that there is still room for idealists, who think we can and should still strive for a government for the people and by the people. Real change is slow and generational, it isn't flashy, it's hard work.

I don't know exactly how to celebrate my country right now, but I'll raise my glass repeatedly to the people who are still trying when it feels hopeless, to the true patriots who fight for human rights and not corporate greed.

There is goodness in the world, even if it doesn't always feel like it, so I'll celebrate courageous acts of kindness, people who defend those who cannot defend themselves, people who stand up when others tell them to sit down, thank you for your service.

I'd like to cheer for #Union organizers.
Their actions bring workers together to fight their real enemy (big business owners) and do more to heal the divisions in this country than any politician.
#CultureWars about beer or books or bathrooms are designed to distract us.
The real issue is whether a very small number of people should own essentially everything, or not.
#solidarity says NO!
