Sony 'Expected to Release a PlayStation 5 Slim Later This Year' Priced $399.99, Microsoft Says - IGN - Lemmy.world

“PlayStation likewise sells a less expensive Digital Edition for $399.99, and is expected to release a PlayStation 5 Slim later this year at the same reduced price point,” reads the document. The bombshells continue, with Microsoft saying further down “Sony is also anticipated to release a handheld version of PlayStation 5 later this year for under $300”. This is in relation to Sony’s announced Project Q, a handheld game streaming device that wirelessly connects to the PS5. Sony has yet to announce a release date or price.

It’ll be interesting to see. I’m most intrigued with the new remote play handheld. Even though I can remote play my PS5 with my steam deck, if the new handheld has HDR or is OLED and has the dualsense haptics, I might pull the trigger on it.

I think I had been announced that the screen would just be LCD, but it should have all the features of the dual sense.

How do you remote play from Steam Deck? Installed windows on it?

The Chiaki fork for Steam Deck

You just install this from the Discover Store in desktop mode, and set it up like a regular remote play client. I recommend turning off the “optimize wifi” option on the Deck, since you would want it to favor a 5ghz connection for reduced latency.

Probably stupid question but does this run the risk of any bans if you’re using unauthorized remote play tools?

I’ve been using various 3rd party remote play apps for years, starting with PS4. I’ve never had an issue. I’ve used PSPlay, Repl4y, Chiaki, and official. I feel if there was ever an issue that they would come after the app providers before they come for users.
