It’s not a … it’s a feature…
@stux Um, it's a VW Beetle, though. Not a VW "Bug".
@y0ptivotzhe0n Beetle is a bug right?  (i know)
@stux I'm intrigued. What do you call it in Dutch? I have to assume it's your native language.

@y0ptivotzhe0n The same actually! 😮

"Volkwagen beetle" 🇳🇱

@stux So you don't substitute the "Beetle" for a Dutch word? Like in German it's VW Käfer, in the US they've translated it directly to "Beetle". And in Dutch it's not VW "Kever"?
@y0ptivotzhe0n Yes it is, or rather was, when the model was still available
Volkswagen Kever
@y0ptivotzhe0n @stux yep correct, it's called a Kever in Dutch.
@y0ptivotzhe0n @stux
Kever (like the German Käfer)
@martinlentink @stux Thanks. :) This seems to be universal for most languages in this specific case. Everyone translates the "Käfer".
@stux @y0ptivotzhe0n
It's common in the UK and USA to call it a bug. Maybe due to the 1960's movie Love Bug, where the sentient car was a beetle.
@TonyJWells @stux I did not know this. Thanks for sharing.

@y0ptivotzhe0n @stux

The movie had different titles in some countries. Netherlands :
Als m'n wagentje eens kon praten
(If only my car could talk ?)
thus missing out on the slang!
In the 1970s/80s it was on television a lot over holidays.

@TonyJWells @stux Then there was something with Lindsay Lohan... 😅
@y0ptivotzhe0n @stux here in France, it is named the Coccinelle ("ladybug"), so... It's not a ladybug, it's a feature?

@y0ptivotzhe0n @stux

When I was a kid (in the 1970s & 1980s) "bug" was the nickname for the VW Beetle.

One place you can see this is with "Herbie, the Love Bug".

@stux It's not a Käfer, it's a Feature 😁 🐛
@stux The back of the car looks like it's smiling :3
@stux
feature .......
Or did mean to say future…?🙄
@stux I wanna say "creature feature," but that doesn't seem quite right. 🤔
@stux here's looking right back at 'ya brah...
@stux
Always love a good "license plate" joke.
@stux Embarrased to say this took me more than a few moments 😆
@stux Cute bug! 🚘 I learned to drive “a stick” in a red VW bug like this one. Fond memory.
@stux That’s hilarious! Just perfect! 😂

@stux

wait… how did my student car from 35 years ago make it to the States ??

@stux It's not moving. That's typically a feature of older VWs.
@stux I saw this plate on a bug at least 2 decades ago in the bay area! Not positive it was the same year/model, but I assume the same owner.
