Last year on July 4th, we had another gun massacre at a lovely, small town July 4th parade, and seven people were killed and 48 wounded, by a kid with an AR-15, spraying the crowd with bullets from a Main Street store rooftop.

How did we get to the point where something that spectacular could happen, and most of us forget?

For all the very valid complaints that white Americans tend to erase historical massacres of Native and Black people, they’re not particularly good at remembering massacres of white people, either.
