Well, it had to happen. Like that first scratch on a new car. A reader discovered a mistake in “Essential Go Proverbs” that’s also in the print edition.

On page 121, answer to problem 8, dia 2, the move at 10 doesn’t actually kill, as White can make two eyes by playing just to the right of 10. 6 should be at 8, forcing 7 to be played to the right of 7, then 8 at 6 kills.

Easy to update the digital version, but still waiting on John Power for the right fix.

@smartgo I just ordered that book. I suspect that these heuristics become instincts for most Go players. Looks to be a profound book - the odd mistake is kind of a trivial matter as examples are secondary to the principles in my view.
@NicelyManifest Indeed. The book also shows many examples where the heuristics don’t apply – they help you zero in on a move, but you’ll still want to check that it works. Enjoy the book!
@smartgo After a few dozen plages that is most apparent. Power is nothing if not thorough.
@smartgo Hi Anders. Was wondering if book pages can be tagged in Go Books and SmartGo One. To mark pages to revisit. Just a thought.
@NicelyManifest Yes in Go Books, no in SmartGo One. Need to do some underlying work first before I can add it there. In Go Books, you can add notes by long-pressing on a paragraph.
@smartgo The navigation shortcut for notes shows as Shift-thin-arrow. But the only arrow keys I know are the triangular ones.
