Richard Bozulich, founder of Kiseido and author of many English-language go books, passed away on March 9. It was an honor to meet him and work with him on a number of book projects. He will be greatly missed – his books will live on.

Another thousand games added to the pro games collection in SmartGo One, for a total of 137,155 games.
SmartGo One 2.8 drastically improves Hint: it now highlights bad moves, and lets you see the principal variation expected for each move (just tap to select the move bubble).
Joseki analysis now also shows a scrollable list of choices, not just top 3, a bug with sharing SGF files to SmartGo has been fixed, and more.
You know what the most prestigious place you can hang your art is?
Where people will see it.
Just got my show hung up at the Berkeley Iron Works climbing gym. I am artist of the month through January! Not what most people think of as an art exhibition venue, but a lot of people will see my pictures and get to enjoy them, which is what matters.
The only downside is that you have to be a member, or buy a day pass, or come in with a member on a free "bystander pass". Iron Works is part of a network of gyms that share membership, so if you are a member of another gym, your membership may cover it.
I'll be doing a reception sometime next week, time TBA.

A review of Hajin Lee’s Outside the Board—an honest diary of a Korean pro. Mindset vs. results, a playful daily-study “Baduk formula,” balancing life and Go, and how to avoid wishful thinking.
A SmartGo fan sent me a link to Jerry Pournelle’s article in 1985 BYTE magazine, fun reminder.

It was great to meet Jerry Pournelle on his tour of ETH Zürich and give him a demo of the Smart Go Board – more than 40 years ago!
