For new people (or returnees) settling in here, this is a piece of advice I haven't seen mentioned yet. Go to Settings and choose "Advanced Web Interface." That means Mastodon will pretty much look like Tweetdeck on your desktop. Much easier to manage lists and replies, and easier to follow people from that set up.
This is what mine looks like. "Home" is everybody I follow, "Notifications" is just that, and if you scroll right, I have various columns set up. "Chat", "Politics/ News", etc. And also my local as a timeline, which I sometimes switch over to federated if I'm in the mood for a firehose of posts. It's all customizable, so set it up how it best works for you!
@AmandaWeaver Iโ€™ve used this, but have only been able to set up one additional column after Home & Notifications. Whatโ€™s the trick?
@AmandaWeaver I wholeheartedly agree!
@AmandaWeaver I actually found that the advanced web interface was more cumbersome. I truly like the simple one.
@ablackcatstail Whatever works for you! I was addicted to tweetdeck, so this made the transition easier for me.
@AmandaWeaver Thank you for the advice. As someone who is not so tech savvy, I appreciate these helpful hints. ๐Ÿ‘
@AmandaWeaver Great advice, I've missed some replies before because I didn't know this, in spite of the option being RIGHT THERE. Thank you.

Attached: 1 image Dear #mastindia especially people using wide screens on Desktops or Laptops you might be used to having #tweetdeck kind of interface. #mastodon also provides something very similar. We can happily pin tags like #india and get ourselves immersed in the entire conversation. All you need to do is to go to the settings and enable the advanced web interface as shown in the image.
