Looks like Threads (Meta's Twitter clone) is set to release on Thursday. Couldn't have been timed any better, and what could very likely be the final nail in Twitter's coffin.
@Nour with how little people trust Meta, I’m not so sure there will be a mass migration there. I might be wrong but I feel like this will be very similar to google’s social network from 10-15 years ago (I forgot the name of it…that’s how forgettable it was). Unfortunately twitter will be as “fine” as it is today.

@DerDomAusDo @nbou Normally I'd agree, but Meta has a few major things going on for them here:

1. It's Meta.
2. Threads is linked to Instagram, arguably the largest social network on the planet.
3. They will be fediverse-compatible.

These seem like huge recipes for success.

@Nour @nbou I fully agree. This will be a very interesting experiment :)
@nbou I was a bit hyperbolic there, but Twitter's been bleeding slowly for a while now. Meta are coming in with a huge stab and will increase the bleeding. But whether that will lead to Twitter's demise is yet to be seen. IMO it's most likely that Twitter will just slip into oblivion over the next few years. Change always happens slowly due to network effect, and Twitter will always be used but won't be too relevant anymore (like Myspace).
