It's time for this month's #VulvaDiversity thread. This month we'll be looking at the different skin textures of the vulva, and how even in the same person, you can see lots of different textures!

We'll be posting, as always, with content warnings. If you don't have content warnings enabled and don't want to see photos of vulvas in your feed, maybe switch them on now? Also, no vulva-shaming or sexualised replies, or we'll block you.

The vulva doesn't just consist of one type of skin. Every vulva has several different types of skin. This means you'll frequently see different textures and colours in the same vulva - and even then, we vary from person to person.

The skin of the mons and labia majora (outer lips) is similar to the skin on the rest of your body. It grows hair, and is usually a similar colour to surrounding skin.

It varies from person to person - sometimes it's wrinkly, sometimes it's smooth, and sometimes it's somewhere in between. You might also notice razor bumps if you shave the area.

The skin of the clitoral hood is softer. It doesn't grow hair. It's sometimes a different colour to surrounding skin. The skin of the hood can be wrinkly, ruffled or very smooth - or anywhere in between.

The skin of the labia minora (inner lips) is soft, and doesn't grow hair. This skin can also be smooth, ruffled, wrinkly, or any textures in between! The texture might be different towards the ends of the labia.

The skin of the clitoral hood and labia minora form differently during foetal development. This means that the same person might have different textures on these parts, for example a smooth hood and ruffled labia minora, or vice versa.

Most of them are unaware of the word even now. I wanted to make a huge post explaining everything but someone DM’ed me asking for a comic on this so here it is. Also, dark inner thighs or intimate parts don’t mean you’re dirty. Your intimate parts are supposed to be a few shades darker than your skin tone especially if you’re a person of colour. It truly depends on your skin tone. Other reasons for hyperpigmentation are friction, hormonal issues, etc. Vaginal odour is normal. Your vulva isn’t a candle. It should smell like a vulva not roses. Don’t use products to make it smell ‘good’. If there’s a strange smell and discharge consult a doctor. Pubic hair isn’t unhealthy or unhygienic. It’s there for a reason. It protects your vulva. Hair removal is a choice not a necessity. Important note : I have seen memes and jokes about girls using cucumbers or bananas as sex toys. NO STOP. Do not put food in there. Just like how any food goes bad when it’s left for a period of time, this will also decay inside you and give you infections. Always cut your nails and wash your hands while masturbating.
