@PinkFohawk by the way, did you know that Dave Arneson, the sorta inventor of #ttrpgs (well, one of the originators at least) wrote the first official Shadowrun adventure?
DNA/DOA is from him.
It's... not very good, even as an early Shadowrun scenario. It does have some of the trademark elements of SR, but it feels weirdly unfinished and mired in DnDthink.
@PinkFohawk one of the main issues I have with it is the railroading it tries. PCs are thrown into the scenario with no prep. And one character is supposed to be forced to be a mole for racists.
And... actually the whole thing is on rails, despite being basically a dungeon. PCs are supposed to get friendly with an orc community and breach the same Aztechnology compound twice. I never played it but I can't see that going as Arneson planned it out.
Hey thanks for listening and for the shoutout chummer!! We’re so stoked to hear you’re enjoying it 🦾🤘🏻
We actually also have a 2e Bookclub over on our YouTube Channel where we’ve been talking with Tom Dowd (co-creator of Shadowrun, designer of 2nd Edition, and author of Silver Angel among other Shadowrun modules and novels). He actually discussed DNA/DOA as their attempt to pull D&D players over to Shadowrun (probably also the reason they got Arneson to write it. Silver Angel is much more “Shadowrun” in tone and feel, and then Mercurial really nailed down the formula from there.
