Currently at a possibly haunted train stop in Bumblefuck, Long Island, 2 hours away from where I live. If I never post again, tell my family I love them
Every train station I know has two tracks. One going east and one west. This place has one track
Classic transfer at Ronkonkoma, which I swear is a real town
Back on a train. But I refuse to let my guard down. Head on a swivel. Watch it, Jack
Finally made it home, and my friend who has a key to my apartment left this gigantic Queen shirt for me
@healyn
hell yeah large shirt healyn!

Long Island, man, I don't know. Possibly the weirdest place in the US.Strip mall, strip mall, mega-mansion enclave, vast agricultural fields, strip mall, mega mansions, Awful Italian food, awful pizza, great bbq, more awful Italian, very cool grocery, very cool winery, strip mall, strip mall.
@geerue a land of contrasts
@healyn

In my youth (60+ years ago), we'd visit Oak Beach each summer: Aunt and Uncle (Dad's brother) who were super smart, alcoholic, and very bohemian. They worked in Manhattan, had no kids, by choice; my family had 3-4 kids depending on the year. Fire Island, Jones Beach, horseshoe crabs, rickety motorboat to pick up potable water. So I guess that has been my notion of "Long Island". But in the last 5 years I've vacationed there (with a big family/friend, i.e. "we-need-an-estate" group), so I've seen more of the "island". Maybe it's just striking to me that I thought I'd been to Long Island, but really never was there. Life lesson! (Like when tourists come to DC and think they then know the place.)
@geerue I was born and raised there. Have a love/hate relationship
@healyn every track is two tracks if you are a monorail
@healyn Just watch of for those roving gangs of sinkholes
@WhiskeySailor it will NOT be a sinkhole. It will be spirits from days of yore
@healyn solid selfie all things considered
