#twitter #fellas #twitterdown Two days ago my account on Twitter was about to hit 1000 followers and I was locked out, tried for hours to get in, but was unsuccessful. I created a new Twitter account yesterday, when I view it on my iPhone 24 hours later I still cannot see anything, still getting rate limit exceeded. Does anyone have information on this? If I use Safari on iPhone to log into Twitter, I have more viewing capabilities. Please let me know your thoughts.
@phellanthropist I don't even know anymore😂I can't do anything on my main account

@phellanthropist Elon Musk has made the very intelligent, not-at-all miserable and utterly baffling and insane decision to rate limit viewing tweets. Not posting, viewing.

This means if you open twitter and scroll your own posts and comments for a few minutes, you're locked out for 24 hours unless you give him money. This is site-wide and has been happening since yesterday.

800-400 posts includes every single reply and even featured tweet that gets loaded, even if you don't see it.

@phellanthropist Basically, welcome to Mastodon full-time because one would have to be a crazy person to put up with that. Making new accounts doesn't help because the limit is so low, even if it was 1000 viewed posts; it would still not get through an even remotely active twitter thread before blocking you for a day.

@phellanthropist I'd broken the "magic" 1K on Friday. I am pretty annoyed about the changes.

Time to restart here. Hopefully, I'll gain the same sort of following, especially with a lot of people following me on Twitter migrating.

@phellanthropist I think it's just unstable. This morning I opened twitter and after 5 or so tweets read there was already the rate message popping up. After some time could read posts but not their replies. Situation changes by the hour.
There's not a clear plan, they are just firefighting inside a room they do not know well enough.

@phellanthropist Earlier this morning I was tweeting as normal. Then half an hour later I couldn’t tweet, send replies, nor could I DM. Now DM was the one sacred place on Twitter where if everything else failed, you could always DM. There is a rate limit for new Twitter followers, whilst the rest of us, without a blue tick, have a rate limit of viewing 600 tweets per day.

@phellanthropist

My thoughts are that all should flee twitter and migrate to better platforms. You know, platforms that aren't Nazi swimming pools.

@bibliolater Thank you for this 🙏 I had read some of this info but this article clarifies the issue much better!
@phellanthropist Twitter is dying.
One minute I'm restricted because I'm 'Scraping Data' and the next minute I'm a Spam Bot and I can't like or post anything.
Time to start collecting followers here.
@OldTallGuy I couldn’t agree more! Mastodon is very new to me, and I am trying to get the hang of it. As someone else pointed out, no ads, no elmo, no ownership or CEO trying to manipulate algorithms. It will take time to get used to this new platform, and hopefully it continues to grow… but I must say that so far I really like it!

@phellanthropist
I've had an account here for a while but I didn't take the time to learn about Mastodon and my account was stagnant. So now I'm a neophyte learning how to navigate the place.

The tone here seems to be more laid back and I'm encouraging my Twitter followers to join here when I'm allowed to post there.

@OldTallGuy My only gripe is my experience here has been very slow. I use a brand new iPhone 14 pro max for my social media, and I am used to everything being lightningfast. For some reason my mastodon app seems to move very slow. I’m not sure why, maybe that’s just how it is, but everything I click on, like, reblog, comment, follow, etc seems to move very slow… I’m usually confronted with the spinning loading wheel for a couple seconds. Does anyone else have this problem?
@phellanthropist
I haven't used any phone apps to access Mastodon, only my laptop, so I'm no help. I'm probably going to start looking at those apps so I hope someone has good recommendations.
@phellanthropist I found that if I use a PC, it works, and I’m not rate limited.
