@sujays @vinayaravind @Bayta tbh, I went to the one in chennai a few years ago (75y) and got super pissed off with how incompetent the organizing was. Sound quality of a Chinese speaker would've been better
@muttonbriyani @sujays @vinayaravind I was at that one too (for work) and yup, can confirm that it was quite awful. Worst organised event I've ever been part of. Wasn't even super happy with the choice of songs tbh. Most uncelebratory playlist ever for at least the first third of the show.
@Bayta @sujays @vinayaravind it didn't really get better. Cherished moments were few and far between.
@muttonbriyani @sujays @vinayaravind Yeah, I was there till the end. Had to be or may have seriously considered walking out. Just meant that first bunch of songs were very wtf for a 75th birthday show. There were some nice moments but could hardly enjoy that because of all the rest of the bad organisation.

@muttonbriyani @sujays @Bayta live sound is incredibly hard, live sound at a massive scale is even harder, and Indian organisers just do a bad job of it most of the time. I went to the Rahman show in 2019 and it was okay-ish.
@vinayaravind @sujays @Bayta yes also I kinda gave up because it was less of a performance and more of a get together on stage. There was no pacing, there were no peak moments. Nothing to enjoy, if I'm being honest and blunt.
@vinayaravind @muttonbriyani @sujays This is true and it's why I infinitely prefer indoor concerts. Outdoor shows are a toss up always. And I wasn't expecting much on that front. But there wasn't much else to make up for that, sadly.
@Bayta @muttonbriyani @sujays in CHennai if mike williams (audio sciences) is doing the sound, it'll be excellent. anyone else it's always going to be a mixed bag, especially Picture PRoductions.
