Well, back to posting more here, I might as well share what I've been up to otherwise.
Over the spring I've build a Micron, a 1515-based version of the Voron 2.4, designed by hartk et al.
I've built the bigger version with a 180 bed. Here's the gantry pre- and post mounting inside the frame
For a toolhead, I installed a Mini Aftersherpa with a Sherpa Mini extruder, on top of Boop Beta 3 - this is a smaller variant of the Voron Tap sensor.
For a nozzle, I chose a trusty Revo Voron. I still had one around and with Revo HF nozzles, this thing can actually do some nice high-speed printing.
I started out with a Funssor kit, but ended up throwing out almost every part in it except for the mounting material, bed and frame. One of the z-rods was too long and impaled a ducky.
The supplied Moons' motors for one were too long at 55mm. Used some Stepperonline 39mm motors for the Z-drives and LDO 52mm for the AB.
The MCU board is a BTT Manta M8P with their CB1 compute module, as I could not obtain a Raspi CM4.
Mmmhh... that is a nice Boop-probed first layer! I usually print a ton of test prints in PLA before I enclose the printer, as you can still get to everything a lot easier.
A colleague's children fell in love with those crystal dragons, so I had to print some for them.
I sincerely hope Josef Prusa won't condemn me for using Prusa Mini sheets on a non-Prusa printer, but getting good PEI sheets at 180x180 is difficult and Prusa's are seriously great!
And this is the Micron, enclosed and in action, printing its first Benchy in ABS.
I've called it Jackrabbit, as it's small, quick, and CliffyB taught me that jackrabbits are green.
