GuardianrockI haven't here in forever but my Home feed is not loading at all. Is this a common issue? Maybe I should migrate to a different instance? Anyone knows what's up?

Dave The Tall Guy@guardianrock LOTS of new traffic today, understandably. Took my home feed a couple of minutes (literally 120 seconds +) to load earlier. It seems to be getting better for me, but still not fast
@davethetallguy I've been waiting for a couples of minutes and it says "Your home feed is being prepared!" I wouldn't be surprised if you were very right and it's because lots of people are coming back/logging in and the servers are struggling. I'll try again later. Thanks!
Sibshops@guardianrock it's been happening to me on this instance, too. Instead of moving, have you considered joining an interest-focused instance, as a second account? If you are interested in #gaming you could join mstdn.games or aipub.social if you like #aiart.
@Sibshops oh that's a great idea! Yes, I'm gonna consider doing that if the loading doesn't improve. Most likely something like the gaming one. Thanks for the suggestion

@guardianrock hey I was looking through the community posts and within 5 mins saw 3 or 4 others also having trouble loading. Someone else said Fediverse is slow today.
@justpeachy makes sense. I'm one of many that has decided to revisit Mastodon as an alternative to Twitter AND Reddit. Mastodon is most likely being slammed
nemo 🐦 🟦 🐳 🃏 🥚@guardianrock It’s standard behaviour. If you haven’t logged in for a week* then the system purges all cached information for your account. It can all be recreated when you do finally log in, but that takes a significant amount of time. You have to log in regularly for the system to ‘keep you in mind’.
