Don’t forget: new unverified accounts are capped at just 300 posts. Once someone hits the limit, there’s also no way for them to see Elon’s announcement of the change. Great design.

My guess is that this is a way to prevent people from using screen scrapers to pull data from Twitter now that API access is gone. I can't help but think they would have better served from looking for that activity and blocking it, rather than putting limits on paying customers... even if that limit is high enough to be essentially unlimited. Someone would need to spend 12 hours on Twitter looking at 500 posts per hour to hit it.

Isn’t the information Elon is trying to protect have large amounts of useless, there are tons and tons of AI bots pretending to have engagement. So AI harvesters harvesting AI posts is kinda worthless.

TeleviseTwitter is surviving because of its addicts. Now, it’s likely to drop its userbase significantly. Plus, Musk restricting people who aren’t logged in from seeing anything makes the website practically irrelevant, and if this is sustained, Twitter will die in a span of months, if not weeks.
Although the claim is that this is being done because of data scrapers, my guess is the thought process is that people who only have access to 600/day will be jonesing for more Twitter and will pay to have that verified check mark so they can get 6000/day, or that people will suddenly sign up for an account if they can't view a tweet they've been sent a link to. I don't first either of those things happening though.
