#Musk just introduced a "read-limit". #Verified accounts can read 6000 tweets a day, #Unverified can read 600 tweets a day.

Official reason: "measure against data scraping" (I‘ll explain why this is bs below)

Inofficial but actual reason: #Twitter is running out of money and Muk needs to take even more drastic measures to force people to buy #TwitterBlue

🧵Here is why Musks explanation is bs:

For at least 2 weeks now, the For-You Page has been literally flooded with strangely similar "Engaging Tier List" content in the form of #Twitter threads by bots accounts, which are most likely originating from Twitter itself - as a tool to get #unverified uses to hit the limit much faster than they would have. These threads have very little content per tweet, even though the recently extended character limit actually makes such threads unnecessary.

If you happen to still have a #Twitter account, just search for the following phrases and you‘ll find masses of these #generic twitter threads from equally generic accounts, allmost all of them are "verified":

"Here‘s how" - "Here are" - "Here‘s the"

Again, for about 2 weeks now, the number of these generic Tweets has been increasing dramatically. In some instances you get 4-5 of these threads directly below each other. If you open a thread, all the containing tweets contained are loaded and count against your limit.

If you happen to launch a quota of 600 tweets/day for non-paying users, because you need them to buy #Twitterblue, filling their timelines with this generic bot content seems like the perfect tool to drain their "free" #quota.

I hope you see what I did there in the first toot. Please forgive me
@bensen Seems legit. Any experience over the last week with mass following of japanese bots?
@goldenader I created an account some weeks ago because I wanted to check if Elon Musk is really the primary account that is recommended to new users during the setup process (he is). This unused account is constantly getting new follows from bots, primarily cam girl bots, even tho this account follows 4 people and is completely inactive.
@bensen Same here. Around 30 bots followed per day over the last two weeks. Most japanese, cam girls, etc. 0 til max 5 followers and zero Tweets, just as you said. Then the massive "Spam vialation"- thing started last weekend, Twitter tweeted, "maybe both is in connection, we'll check it." It's all about profit. I'm done with Twitter.
