For Apollo's thank you/memorial page I wanted a fun parody of Sarah McLachlan's "I Will Remember You" to play in the background, and the incredible Zoe Wynns put together an amazing song, with the superb @_chuckyc doing the visuals

I love how this turned out haha

Goodbye Apollo

@christianselig this hurts way too much. This and the wallpaper of the bonfire next to Tweetbot and tweterrific 😢
@jeop10 that wallpaper just about made me cry
@richaesthetic I know I’m heart broken.
@christianselig you’re gonna make me cry on Canada Day 😭
@christianselig I wasn’t expecting this to be in your last update. Hilarious in a sad and funny way. Thanks for the good one on the way out.
@christianselig I had a good sad laugh when I discovered it 🤣 Just curious, in this final version of the app, is it still possible to enable “open Reddit links in Apollo”? I replaced my TestFlight version with the the final AppStore version so I can keep it on my phone and make sure Reddit links try to open in Apollo so that they don’t work, essentially making sure I don’t accidentally give Reddit traffic. But I can’t seem to find that and it didn’t carry over my previous settings.
@astrsk @christianselig you could screen time block the url if not but this would be an absolutely hilarious stand alone app. I’m picturing Apollo holding up a blurred middle finger as the icon.
@christianselig You're making this so much harder 😭
@christianselig Oh my god that is amazing and totally didn't make me cry a little. :')
@christianselig Really sad to see it finally go down. Hopefully your next project will be as fulfilling.
@christianselig thanks for everything, Christian. Apollo was my go to for years! All day today my finger has been automatically going for Apollo even though it’s not there anymore. that’s gonna be a hard habit to stop. 😭
@christianselig Thank you still for Apollo and all the effort you put into it. I never owned an iOS device, but if I did I know Apollo would've been one of my essentials.
@christianselig I’m sure you’ve been asked a a million times, but any thoughts on Apollo for Mastodon/kbin? Long time user, loved your work.. sorry it ended that way for you

@christianselig Hey Christian, thank you for the memories, I’ll never forget the time I spent with Apollo. It’s the end of an era for me, time to move onto whatever comes next!

There was a huge reorg at Unity last month, so I’m falling back to working on my own indie games for a season. I know you love animals, so check our game Tanuki Sunset, on Steam. We’re really proud of it.

No matter what happens next, best of all! 🥳

@christianselig never would I have thought I’d be so sad to see an app close down 😂. It’s a sad day but it’s amazing what you did in development and it’s eventual closure.

@christianselig

I appreciate everything you did and tried. Best of luck in whatever's next. I'm a definite fan, and will be watching closely.

@christianselig Thank you for everything! Very much looking forward to the arrival of my t-shirts, and I shall proudly wear them in loving memory.
@christianselig Just use this song from Sarah: https://open.spotify.com/track/0oPZm6DNVj4rv5uGOw2w7q?si=fa7vs_OIRmm8Z_2hjbuCSA I think this trigger the end way better.

@christianselig if there were a counter showing how many times Apollo had been opened since yesterday JUST IN CASE Reddit came to their senses, I’d be at the top of the leaderboard. Thank you for everything, and for handling all of this like a champ on top of it.
@christianselig incredible. Giving me end of game credit reel vibes.
@christianselig any plans to make an In Memoriam sticker/sticker set?
@christianselig going to miss Apollo so much
@christianselig the most Canadian song choice. Well played
@christianselig thank you for this, actually had me cracking up 😂 A beautiful send off to a wonderful app. Thank you 🙏🏼
@christianselig I want you to know that your app is what turned Reddit into a daily habit for me. Your app got me through some of the best and worst times of my life. That sounds dramatic, but Reddit became a place I wanted to hang out and interact with people specifically because you designed Apollo to be so simple and user friendly. It will be sorely missed and I wish you the best of luck in any future endeavor you undertake. Maybe a Lemmy app >_>
@christianselig what a shame to see such a great app gone 😔 would you know by any chance if there’s a way to get the export.json file to migrate to lemmy ?
@christianselig it’s been a good run guys, thanks for making Reddit awesome, now it’s my time to retire from Reddit. (I know I’m late, I was on vacation)
