What "third generation" Trek is worth watching?

I started with Star Trek after watching the Star Trek (2009) movie in college. After that I went wild watching everything I could since I was young with loads of time. I watched most of TOS, all of TNS, all of DS9, all of Voyager, all of Enterprise and all of the movies. I then stopped since I didn't have the time and wasn't... #star

IMO the only new Trek that I've watched and enjoyed without reservation is Star Trek: Lower Decks. I've heard Picard Season 3 is also very good and can be watched as a stand-alone but I haven't got around to it yet. I enjoyed a couple of episodes of Strange New Worlds, but I'm not sure I'm enjoying the series as a whole yet - I'll give it another season and we'll see.

Everything else has been a disappointment to me, or outright repellent. Modern Trek seems to have lost track of what makes Star Trek Star Trek, except ironically enough for the one that's a parody of Star Trek. I guess in order to properly parody something you have to first understand it.

I just want a modern Trek that feels like TNG/Voyager. I trudged through 4 seasons of Discovery and didn't like it, but Picard was alright. I have yet to try Strange New Worlds or Lower Decks, so I'm hoping those are better.
They should scratch your itch, I think.

Interesting that your down on Strang New Worlds.

That show feels like a huge step in the right direction. I do wish they'd steered clear of existing characters & not have to rehash the enterprise, but otherwise it's a great modern take on the old formula.

Discovery was trash though, finally beat out Voyager for the position of worst Trek TV show.

And then, you know, there's the J.J. Trek abomination movies.

I'm not really down on it as a whole, it's just a bit meh so far. There have been some good episodes. Which is a step in the right direction, sure. As I said, I'll give it another season and see how it does.
