#WaterfallWednesday

This is Bøsdalafossur waterfall, the outlet from Sørvágsvatn lake in the Faroe Islands.

The lake sits 40m above sea level, surrounded by cliffs that hem it in, and looks for all the world like it's warped spacetime to inhabit this position.

@jsvilliers this looks so unreal 🤯

kinda hard to believe, now that it has become so easy to have such pictures generated

@b_age
Yep, it's a proper mind-bender!
@b_age @jsvilliers what looks so weird to me is that there's no waves!
@jsvilliers it looks like the silly result of some image generation tool.
@hllizi
It really does! A freaky optical illusion.

@jsvilliers Heck or a place to lose a prize Goose.

It's absolutely beautiful, and I'm already researching what it will take to get there. The only better than seeing it, is taking your own pictures :)

My wings won't make a trip by themselves, so I will have to use those green paper things everyone else does.

@jsvilliers

If it was a landscape generator I'd say it was a bug.

@mkarliner @jsvilliers I've been there. It still looks like a bug.
Wonderfully weird place. Sadly I went in 2019 during basically a drought, so the waterfall wasn't as spectacular as you'd like.
@jsvilliers Truly extraordinary. The photo on the right completely confounds my sense of three dimensional landscape.
But it's the one on the left that has such atmosphere, the kind which inspired the Eddas, or the Saga of Burnt Njal
@jsvilliers It's ....astonishing ! 😱
@jsvilliers wow wow this is just incredible 🤯
@jsvilliers Doesn't matter how beautiful their nature is. Anytime I hear Faroe Island I feel bad.
@jsvilliers
It hardly seems real. It would definitely win a "world's weirdest golf hole" competition. Where would you put the tee & where would the flag go?
@jsvilliers M.C. Escher would have loved this place!
@danielscher
I suspect even he would have got a headache from staring at this for too long!
@jsvilliers
@Scott1984FP indeed looks a bit like a photoshop accident of considerable proportion :)
@jsvilliers
This world is incredible!
