Charlie Stross@cmdrSprocket There is no singularity ahead of us. (There *is* one in our distant past—the development of language/transmissible culture—and arguably more recently, 6-10,000 years ago—development of writing.)
@cstross I wasn't thinking about a quantum leap-ish singularity for mankind. More a black hole from with the LLMs wont be able to escape.
@cmdrSprocket As with the spam problem on the internet, the LLM problem is going to prove intractable. On the other hand, some bright spark will make their first billion dollars by working out how to filter out the noise and deliver useful results from internet search.
... At least that's what I keep telling myself as I weep helplessly and gobble antidepressants with both hands.
