STERILE MALES
No, this is not about anyone's sex life. It's about #mosquitoes.
Female mosquitos bite, males don't.
The "Sterile Insect Male" technique consists on raising and librating large numbers of sterile males. They will mate with the females. Their offspring will be sterile. As a consequence, the populations will drop.
This is a way to combat the #TigerMosquito (Aedes albopictus).

STERILE MALES
There's a pilot project to reduce Tiger Mosquito population using the Sterile Male technique in #Bologna, Italy.
After several years of tests, since May they have released almost 2 million sterile male mosquitos in an area of 100 hectares.
Monitoring is done with ovitraps (no data yet).
The project is run by the "Centro Agricola Ambiente Giorgio Nicoli", who raise, select, and liberate the mosquitos.
