Record-breaking heat wave in Texas.

NYC & Chicago recording the worst air quality of major cities in the world due to wildfire smoke.

First US cases of malaria in decades.

#Climate change is the biggest public health threat humanity faces, and it's happening now.

@luckytran 'The #Texas #powergrid will fail soon again. But this is #GOP "#freedom" and "TEXAS IS INDEPENDENT"....
@toor @luckytran - It's wild to me that because of the lack of regulation Texas had the fastest growing renewable energy industry in the US... so the GOP decided to regulate that specifically.

@gFam @luckytran Power grids on a continental scale were actually rolled out to increase resilience and availability. It became doable to sync a continental international power grid to the same frequency. In the US there are two grids. A Western and Eastern. Texas refused to be connected to any of them - with the exception of a small part due to location restraints. Guess whose power went not out in the catastrophic winter in Texas.

Texas also refused to be part of the Interstate network.

@luckytran

Message from the rest of the world to Texas. We know it's extremely hot but please turn off the AC and buy a fan or three. You know it makes sense.

@stuart @luckytran
My Texan neighbors complain that their air conditioners don't keep them cool enough. Set at 74°. Yes. Ridiculous.
@luckytran malaria in the US? Is this what they meant by Make America Great Again? 😬

@luckytran

OPEC kleptocrats, Russian oil oligarchs, and #KochNetwork only fund the best extinction level events

To keep their wealth, these moneyed fossil fuel interests are prepared to fry democracy on the path to frying the planet.

In Texas, where money has long dominated politics, Greg Abbott is in a league of his own

The two-term governor’s donors enjoy access, appointments to boards and commissions, and a chance to bend the ear of a politician who may harbor bigger ambitions.

Only the highest quality extinction events for the most discerning oligarchs.

Something about in the End Of Days people were still being ignorant

@luckytran

@luckytran Detroit area here - air quality index is currently 207. I’m lucky enough to be able to stay inside. People whose jobs take them outside? Animals that live outside or take walks? ☹️
@Crochetcat @luckytran also from Detroit and my sinuses are awful. I work in the automotive industry and we have the ability to really move the needle towards a sustainable world, but I fear we may be running out of time.
@luckytran and it’s just going ignored.

@luckytran

Summers in Texas and Florida were always warm enough to support malaria transmission.

…and the vectors & malaria were there for quite awhile before malaria was eliminated, all while the climate was warming.

It’s odd to find two clusters with no history of travel at once, but odd things happen sometimes.

Anyway, it’s quite a leap to blame climate change for these cases.

@luckytran malaria in the US sounds hectic. Climate crisis has so many interesting variables.
@luckytran I live in a sub tropical area and deployed to tropical areas with malaria a few times, I figured it would come to where I live in time due to climate change. Maybe malaria will wipe out the stupids in western countries when they refuse treatment and future vaccines that Bill Gates has been sponsoring all these years.
@luckytran Don't forget Detroit, with a 337 from AirNow.gov

What I cannot understand is all the people still moving to Texass. I know well educated people that have moved there and Florida. They have little kids. And I keep asking myself what is it they are thinking. Its the two worst places to move to but people keep going. Its nuts.
