Notes on iOS 6 🗒️
The perfect UI doesn’t exi…
@BasicAppleGuy the exception to the rule. I loved this
@BasicAppleGuy I love the level of care and detail that UI like this had. It was a magical time. ✨
@BasicAppleGuy i miss skeumorphism really hard... X.x
@BasicAppleGuy my favorite was the tape deck animation in the podcasts app. So much care put into it
@BasicAppleGuy I really miss this interface.
@BasicAppleGuy Someone was having fun with that screenshot. Rebels at 9:41, shopping at 4:20, and wish list at 11:11. I love it!
@BasicAppleGuy While it's easy to find examples of skeumorphism that went too far, I think Apple went too far in the other direction with iOS 7 and even today there's so much stuff in Apple's designs (and others, because everyone follows Apple) where intent and function is ambiguous because minimalism trumps usability. That's my old man rant for today, anyway. :)
@BasicAppleGuy Just need a better handwriting font.
@BasicAppleGuy the share button is literally just send it as an email. 💀
@BasicAppleGuy The other contender for best UI is the original Podcasts
@jimlau @BasicAppleGuy I can’t believe how much hate that got. Bring us back to when things were fun!
@cutler @BasicAppleGuy I think this UI was really nice, and especially for an audio app, where once it’s playing, you had something to watch while listening.
@jimlau @BasicAppleGuy podcasts was so frustrating at that time. Sync was atrocious and you couldn’t skip fwd / backwards.
@BasicAppleGuy I know it isn’t related to UI, but on a recent Talk Show episode Neil Jhaveri talked briefly about how the original notes app used an IMAP sync engine under the hood and that just astonishes me. https://overcast.fm/+B7NBzAmo0/22:00
