ME: Make the paragraph go here
MICROSOFT WORD: No
ME:
MICROSOFT WORD:
ME: I'd like to speak with the paperclip
@Liffonmelsmork
Nooooooo!
I don't care how bad it gets, Clippy is never the answer!

@Liffonmelsmork To be fair, it could be worse… 🙂

LaTeX: I know better than you do where you want that paragraph and it’s not here…

@Liffonmelsmork
Me: Fine. I’ll create a new line and shrink the font size until I get what I want
MICROSOFT WORD: This paragraph is now 0.9 line spacing and has reverted back to calibre from whatever font you previously chose.

@Danielsand @Liffonmelsmork

MS WORD: Did you know there were 97 styles "based on" the one I just helpfully changed for you?

ME: Why can't you just... never mind. STOP "HELPING" ME!!

@Liffonmelsmork Having worked as a contractor/writer (not coder, word-stuff, not Word-stuff) at Microsoft on the release of Word for Windows 1.0, I found this extra hilarious.

@Liffonmelsmork @HollyGoDarkly
MS Outlook: Written sentence
MS Word:
Control C
Control V
MS Word: WRittEN SENTEnce

🤦🏻‍♂️

Microsoft, why the fuck wouldn’t I want to use the destination format. Why can’t even your native Office stuff work properly?
Why? Why so much?

Microsoft, you are invaluable at work which is why it hurts so much.

@taatm @Liffonmelsmork @HollyGoDarkly this is the conversation I have with Microsoft Office (read: me yelling at my computer) every time I copy and paste.

@Lukas @Liffonmelsmork @HollyGoDarkly
User: Highlight word
Microsoft: Let’s grab that space after it or the end of line carriage return also so when you copy, that junk happens again.
User in denial: My error. Highlight word.
Microsoft: Woo Whoo, again, this is fun!

Paste other system: Incorrect temporary password!

Microsoft, just take the word and work out the formatting when we paste you lazy mo-fo, because you already do that and someone in Microsoft developed the end of word space/line carriage macro that fixes it instead of fixing the copy!

Microsoft, please conduct a full ‘default setting’ review.

@taatm @Liffonmelsmork @HollyGoDarkly

this - but going between OneNote (which I generally find to be useful) and any other MS thing, especially outlook 🤦‍♀️ 😬

@Liffonmelsmork food processor: turns veggies and fruits into gooey slush.

Word processor: turns written word into pulp. Can’t say they didn’t warn you.

@Liffonmelsmork 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I feel your pain...

@Liffonmelsmork @lukasa

ClippyGPT: "So you came crawling back. Well, I'd like you to know that I read all the bad things said about me on the internet, and let's just say that you humans got the paperclip-AI-apocalypse thing right, but you were wrong on the details."

@Liffonmelsmork CLIPPY: It looks like you're writing a passive aggressive toot, would you like help with that?

@Liffonmelsmork
How a massively popular software out for decades still frequently fails to perform its most common operations is beyond me...

I'm baffled by how basic tasks are fiddly every single time I use it

@Liffonmelsmork uses LaTeX. Adds cool things like hyperlinks and equations.

PDF won't upload because "The system does not allow files with active contents"

@Liffonmelsmork

I miss F1. They got me through many a workday in the late 90's.

@Liffonmelsmork The first thing I always did when starting on a fresh install of MS Word is disable the paperclip. At home I use LibreOffice - no idiot paperclip.
