As we live within a few light minutes of a huge out of control nuclear reaction, I find it convenient to use the energy expelled by that reaction to dry our clothes.

Alternatively you can let that solar energy convert in to plants, let those plants convert in to oil over a few million years, then burn the oil to create heat, use the heat to power a turbine to make electricity, and then convert the electricity in to heat and wind to dry your clothes. Arguably less efficient, but more profitable!
