🇫🇷 Paris is removing half its street parking to free up space for people.

🚗 Cars in Paris take up 50% of public space.

@dmoser great just wait till people stop coming, shopping, selling, buying, eating, partying! What's gonna happen then?
@PabloMartini @dmoser studies show over and over that most retail shoppers don’t come via car
@PabloMartini @dmoser more trains, bus, bike… more people

@PabloMartini @dmoser
Dunno about you, but I take the train to the city, where I'm deposited smack dab in the middle of the shopping district.
Or office district.
Or at hospital.
Or the airport.

Cars get in my way much more often than they get me somewhere.

This is the polar opposite of when I lived in the USA, where I was almost forced to have a car, and drive everywhere.

@PabloMartini @dmoser

Lol...In Paris? There is this thing called Metro...

@dmoser I wish American cities would do this! Instead they widen the roads and act surprised that more people choose to drive and cause more congestion and pollution 🤦‍♂️
@dmoser Ok im not visiting France. Noted.
@dmoser There is basically no street parking in Tokyo. Paris has a way to go yet, but the example is clear.
@dmoser This is compensated with more space for public transportation and accessible vehicles for those unable to walk long distances, right? …Right?
