You ever think that anime fans' obsession with stories set in highschools and middle aged women's obsession with young adult romance novels is the exact same phenomenon occuring in different demographics? This trend in anime is usually explained by pointing out how markedly mythologized highschool life is in Japanese culture in general, reflecting the fact that adulthood is widely experienced as a horror.
